Founded in 1865, the Minnesota-based agricultural giant is dedicated to building stronger food systems and embedding farmer resilience throughout the food supply chain. Food production relies on resilient farming businesses to manage changing weather conditions, volatile markets, and rising global demand. The company accomplishes this resilience by connecting farmers to customers, markets, financing, and technical expertise. It also is focused on establishing practices that improve productivity, protect yields, and adjust to changing conditions. In addition, Cargill has a 65-year partnership with nonprofit Care, which fights poverty, to combine community relationships with Cargill’s agricultural knowledge and technical expertise. The two organizations developed the Prosper III initiative, which connected farmers and entrepreneurs to business training, buyer networks, and market opportunities. It also has focused on women’s access to financial resources, skills training, and leadership opportunities.
