Good morning. The momentum for IPOs continues. Jersey Mike’s is heading to the public markets with a valuation that could reset expectations for restaurant IPOs—and test just how far investors are willing to stretch for a franchised growth story.

Recommended Video

The sandwich chain is targeting an implied equity value of up to $7.9 billion, putting it in the same league as Cava and nearly eight times the size of Sweetgreen. That positioning is notable given the recent volatility in consumer discretionary names and a still-selective IPO window. Yet Jersey Mike’s is betting its 99% franchised, asset-light model—and a sharp post-pandemic sales trajectory—can command a premium.

For finance leaders, the offering underscores a broader theme: the market’s continued preference for predictable cash flow, capital efficiency, and scalability over top-line growth alone. The company’s nearly 50% same-store sales growth since 2020 and margin expansion narrative will likely be central to the roadshow, alongside its ability to convert franchise economics into durable free cash flow.

Private equity dynamics are also in focus. Blackstone and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority are partially exiting while maintaining meaningful stakes, a structure that signals confidence but also raises familiar questions around timing and upside already captured. Morgan Stanley, Jefferies, and J.P. Morgan are acting as global coordinators and joint bookrunning managers for the proposed offering. You can read more here.

During Morgan Stanley’s Q2 earnings call last week, CEO Ted Pick reinforced the supportive IPO backdrop, noting that “the IPO exit opportunity is real.” CFO Sharon Yeshaya said the firm has relationships with about 70% of the top 100 unicorns by market cap in its workplace pipeline.

Jersey Mike’s debut could serve as a key read-through for sponsor-backed consumer listings in the second half of the year—particularly those leaning on franchising as a margin lever. Whether the market is ready to reward operational discipline at a premium multiple—or instead pushes back on valuation in the current IPO environment—will be one of the key questions around the company’s debut.

Fred Graffam was appointed CFO of Lightwave Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: LWLG), a technology platform company,  effective immediately. Graffam brings more than 20 years of experience. Snizhana "Ana" Quan, who has served as the company's principal financial officer and principal accounting officer since January 2026, will remain with the company as VP of finance and corporate controller. Most recently, Graffam served as CFO of Fidium, formerly Consolidated Communications. He previously served as CFO of Ascent Capital Group and its wholly owned subsidiary, Monitronics International, dba Brinks Home Security.

Kieran Kelliher was appointed CFO of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. Kelliher joins the Mavericks as CFO after 12 years at the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bulls Charities in similar roles. During his tenure, he led the Bulls’ efforts to host the NBA All-Star Game in 2020 and spearheaded the launch of its G League franchise (Windy City Bulls) in 2016. With the move to Dallas, Kelliher will continue to serve on the NBA G League’s Leadership and Labor Relations Committees and the NBA's Risk Management Advisory Council.

Big Deal

Gartner’s latest CFO survey finds that finance leaders are split on the primary aim of their AI spending, with 45% saying their investments lean toward boosting worker and process productivity, and 20% prioritizing improved decision quality.

The research underscores that many CFOs still struggle to translate AI and generative AI projects into consistent, enterprise-wide productivity gains, reinforcing Gartner’s broader message that AI value tends to emerge unevenly across functions and use cases.

Gartner argues that CFOs should stop treating AI as a single ROI challenge and instead manage it as a portfolio of distinct bets—ranging from routine automation to more advanced analytics and transformative decision-support capabilities—while recalibrating expectations around timelines, non-financial benefits, and the organizational conditions needed to unlock measurable impact.

Going deeper

Pew Research Center's new report finds that majorities of Americans now say young adults have a harder time reaching key financial milestones than previous generations, especially finding a job, buying a home, paying for college, saving for the future and even covering basic expenses. For finance professionals, the data points to mounting generational pressure on household balance sheets—and signals how labor, housing and consumer credit markets will need to adapt to a cohort facing structurally tougher financial conditions.

Overheard

“Who knew that would be such a fun thing—to actually run out of beer?”

—Devon Savage, manager of communications for the Samuel Adams brand, told Fortune in an interview. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, between June 11 and June 21, the Samuel Adams Taproom in downtown Boston ran out of its flagship Boston Lager during the first weekend of Scotland’s group-stage matches. The location sold more than 7,000 pints of Boston Lager, emptied 99 kegs and two full tanks—the equivalent of another 30 kegs—and required five emergency deliveries to keep up.
