The tech giant will be discontinuing the Nexus Player, which debuted in late 2014 as the first Android TV product, Google confirmed to The Verge on Tuesday. Google is ceasing direct sales, though it will still be available through some third-party sellers, the company said.

Manufactured by Asus, the Nexus Player was only one of Google’s (GOOGL) plays for taking over the living room. The company previously developed Google TV, which wasn’t all that successful. It eventually released the Chromecast, a small and affordable device for streaming media that quickly gained popularity.

The Nexus Player also competed with other media streaming devices like Roku’s products and Apple TV, among others.

Still, Android TV, the Nexus Player’s underlying operating system, is holding strong. It still comes pre-loaded on new televisions from Sony and Sharp, as The Verge notes. Last week, at Google’s annual developer conference in Mountain View, Calif., Chinese mobile device maker Xiaomi unveiled a new media streaming device that will run Android TV.

“Android TV continues to be a living room favorite as one of the best smart TV experiences. We are pleased with the success and have seen millions of activations so far,” a Google spokeswoman told Fortune.

It also appears that Google will continue to provide support for the Nexus Player as the company continues to make its new software available for it, like the upcoming Android N.
