Sarah Choi’s fashion career can be divided into two stages: Before and after Beyoncé.
The 31-year-old designer, who worked at Calvin Klein for years before starting her own line in 2013, was a virtually unknown designer, reports The New York Post.
And then Beyonce’s Lemonade dropped.
At multiple times in the music-video album, Beyoncé wears a shimmery silver slip from the designer’s RHOI line, which Choi launched with her friend and Parsons’ classmate Douglas Reker out of her Brooklyn apartment.
According to The Post the slip—which retails for $395—actually sold out before “Lemonade” was released. Nonetheless, its repeat appearance on Beyoncé caused a frenzy as fans tried to purchase the dress.

“We actually thought it was a glitch in the system,” Choi told the outlet. “But we called the people we sell through and they [said], ‘No, they’re all separate orders.”
Choi and Reker are working to produce more slips, which should be available May 20. But it’s unlikely they’ll be able to keep up with demand, especially now that the slip’s description reads: “As seen on Beyoncé.”
“It’s made from this opal Japanese fabric, dragonfly satin, which is really limited,” Choi said. “So I don’t know how many more we can make!”
For fans who can’t wait that long, plenty of Choi’s other ethereal designs are still in stock. And while Beyoncé didn’t wear them in Lemonade, it’s possible she wore them off-camera — according to The Post, the singer’s stylist scooped up the entire collection last year.
