On the Ellen Show on Thursday afternoon, The President and First Lady shared special Valentine’s Day messages for each other. Michelle Obama (presumably the romantic of the two), started off with a poem, which she shared with the President via video:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
You are the president
And I am your boo

Not to be out-shined by his wife, President Obama took to the stage of the Ellen Show to film his own message for Michelle: “Somebody call the situation room, ’cause things are about to get hot,” he said, after which he promised the First Lady a special Valentine’s Day meal of zucchini bread and “veggies on a plate, just the way you like them.”

And while most of his message was in jest, the President ended with a tinge of sentimentality: “I’ve made a lot of great decisions as president, but the best decision I ever made was choosing you.”
