Toyota is promoting its new hydrogen fuel cell technology by reuniting Back To The Future II’s Marty McFly and Doc Brown to talk about the real life innovation that the film predicted 26 years ago.

The “Fueled by Everything” campaign, which features original actors Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, is all about how Toyota (TM) is making the future in Back to the Future II a reality. It’s especially fitting as the fateful date that the two characters jumped forward to in the film is only a week away: Oct. 21, 2015.

“Over the years we’ve had a lot of fun predicting which Back to the Future fictional 2015 technology would arrive by the real year,” Fox told Ad Week.

While the connection makes for a fun advertisement, the timing is coincidental. Toyota has been working on the hydrogen fuel cell technology for two decades, and it will power its newest Mirai model.
