“If you want to free a society give them Internet access”
Here’s a brief interview with Wael Ghonim, Marketing head of Google Inc. Middle East & North Africa, who has been moonlighting (20% time?) as an Internet-enabled revolutionary and jailed activist over the last month.

Ghonim is seen by many as being one of the lynch pins of this Egyptian revolution. He set up some of the Facebook pages that organized the original gatherings and after subsequently being jailed, became a rallying cry for protestors. He was released a few days ago.
As we wait official word on whether Egypt’s leader Hosni Mubarak will step down tonight, Ghonim tweeted the following minutes ago:
