In a full page spread in the New York Times today, Motorola and Verizon took a ‘Swype’ at the iPhone’s antenna problem.

By now, you’ve heard of the issues with holding the new iPhone 4.  Apple’s official stance so far is that “you are holding it wrong” or “buy a protective case”.  That may be good enough for the hardened Apple fan, but for the general public, it may not fly.

Today, Motorola debuted an ad for the Android-powered Droid X which looks to entice people to wait for the July release rather than get on line for an iPhone.  Motorola tells you that the Droid X can make calls no matter how you hold it.

“And most importantly, it comes with a double antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls.”

Are Apple’s stop-gaps good enough for you or do their actions/inactions in this matter leave you looking elsewhere?
